Mamma Mia! 3 Actresses That Prove Age Is Just A Number At The 2018 Oscars

Fashion inspiration from the red carpet is no new thing. Traditionally red carpet fashion and beauty inspiration has always come from 20-something stars like Margot Robbie, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone, it certainly seemed that there was a beauty power shift at this year’s Oscars for women over 50.Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep and Jane Fonda among other stars flew the flag for the over 50s and led the best dressed on the red carpet and the three women arguably beat actresses a quarter of their age at their game.Dame Helen Mirren, 72, is an inspiration to us all. The star wore a figure-hugging teal blue Reem Acra gown that looked stunning with her silvery blond hair and red lipstick.Helen never puts a foot wrong, but it’s not just her style that we’re enviable of. Helen was spotted having a cheeky shot on the red carpet and it’s this fun and fearless attitude that we love her for.Meryl Streep went all out at this year’s Oscars in a ruby red Christian Dior gown. The 68-year-old usually sticks to more subdued black and navy but she looks like she’s gaining in confidence as she gets older. We applaud her for embracing colour and choosing to stand out.At 80, Jane Fonda is constantly raising the bar where age and perception are concerned. Her choice of a white structured Balmain gown with exaggerated shoulders and a fish tail hem was far from safe.Still taking risks and clearly enjoying her style choices, she just seems to get better with age.Photo Credit: Getty
