Movie Review: ‘Blood Sisters’ Is Worth All The Hype And Accolades, But Do Friendships Like That Still Exist! Amazing

Netflix and Ebonylife Studios is at it again and this time they have dropped a Nigerian drama mini-series titled Blood Sisters.blood sisters

The Nigerian four-part thriller series Blood Sisters is a dark, twisted and compelling look at the lives of two best friends, Sarah (Ini Dima-Okojie) and Kemi (Nancy Isime) whose friendship is tested by violence, abuse and betrayal. This amazing piece features Nollywood stars such as Kate Henshaw, Deyemi Okanlawon, Daniel Etim-Efiong, Nancy Isime, Ini Dima-Okojie, Toyin Abraham, Joke Silva, Uche Jumbo, Toke Makinwa, Ramsey Nuoah, Gabriel Afolayan, Kehinde Bankole, Ibrahim Sulieman, Wofai Fada, Tope Tedela, Wale Ojo,  ect. Blood Sisters draws its theme from love, family, betrayal, murder and lots more. To start with, the scriptwriter deserves a cold bottle of champagne because, what was that, apt beginning, middle and ending. In fact, the ending couldn’t have been more perfect. This film showed how suspense is actually supposed to feel like from one scene to another. This is one of the few Nollywood movies that possesses so many stars yet, no one overshadowed anyone, everyone was relevant in their role and no one was underplayed or overplayed. Once again a big thumbs to Mo Abudu the scriptwriter  and the cast director for this amazing piece. The delivery and characterization couldn’t have been more perfect. The likes of Nancy Isime, Ini Dima-Okojie, Deyemi Okanlawon, Gabriel Afolayon, Kate Henshaw, literally everyone killed and stood out in their role play. For someone who is just starting out in Nollywood, Ini Dima-Okojie is definitely doing well.

The character of Timeyin was welled played by Genoveva Umeh, the neck positions, the expressions, the mannerism of a drug addict, she did a good job. Whoever selected this cast did well. Now coming to the make up and costume, we have to say, this is another high point of this movie. The make up of Sarah and Kemi as they were on the run was on point. Through the make up, you could see the various phases at which they were getting tired, weak, hungry, walking for too long, weldone guys. Make-up artist Carina Ojoko and costume designer Yolanda Okereke have definitely raised the bar because through this movie they have shown that Nollywood has a future when it comes to special effect makeup and costumes. Like the popular saying, dem finish work, scatter.

This aspect of the movie Blood Sisters would not have been perfect if the cinematography and photography was shitty, but they also killed it, every thing was clean, and well lit. We cannot not talk about the sex scene, it was dope, the scenes where the girls were in the bathroom was dope also, like the height of plausibility attained in this movie is just amazing.
Final Thought
Blood Sisters deserves all the accolades in the world. It is actually refreshing to see Nollywood movies, breaking limits, and doing the unexpected. This movie shows that Nollywood definitely has a future and we are there already. Blood Sisters gets an 8/10 straight up. Weldone guys.            Trending video of the day;
